This short film came about after a visit to an old military fort outside Buncrana, Co. Donegal. In one of the dungeon like rooms, I noticed a beam of daylight coming through a shaft in the ceiling.
I had an idea, to have people walk out of the darkness, and stand for a few seconds looking up at the light, before returning to the shadows.
In collaboration with some friends, Mark Cullen, Terence Coyle and John Coyle, we produced this video.
The words were written and spoken by myself.
The short film was shown during the UK City of Culture Festival, which took place in Derry, in 2013. It won first prize at the CultureTECH event during the City of Culture festival.
